This new design uses an Arduino Deumilanove and a home-built shield to replace virtually all of the hand-wired circuitry. Eagle files for a (untested) shield printed circuit board and the current Arduino sketch are provided at "Details" below.
Some other benefits to using the Arduino besides greatly simplifying the wiring is that a much more sophisticated PID control algorithm is now implemented for better tuning. It currently appears that the nonlinear springs used in the previous design are not necessary.
Other features of this design are partially hidden motors, four strings spanning two octaves, a lighter guitar body using curved Masonite, and a simplier power supply.
