The skin provides no acoustic or mechanical purpose except to help stabilize the guitar and to give it some personality. This particular skin is constructed from two sheets of luan cut to the outline of a standard acoustic guitar. the front sheet was cut out to receive the body of the guitar and the heat sinks for the amplifiers.

A set of pine blocks approximately 4 inches tall and 3/4" square in cross-section were arrayed along the outer edges of luan and at critical points at its inner edge (visible in the picture) between the sheets to separate them. The blocks were tipped to conform with the edges of the sheets and abutted to form a semi-continuous damage than glued in place. A layer of body putty was used to provide a smooth outer surface. The flaming was done with yellow and red spray paint in the outer edge with black spray paint.
